The University of Washington (UW) is recruiting two full-time faculty members in Radiation Oncology who will join the community based Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) Peninsula clinic in Poulsbo, Washington; a successful established practice with 2.5 radiation oncologists that is currently under expansion to provide medical oncology services. SCCA Peninsula will be a fully integrated radiation and medical oncology clinic serving patients on the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas.

The selected candidate will be proposed for appointment to the full-time faculty at the University of Washington on the clinician-clinician pathway as a Clinical Assistant Professor – Salaried (10167) with an anticipated start date of –.  This is a full-time position with a twelve month appointment with salary paid over twelve months for eleven months of service.

The radiation oncology service provides a full complement of radiation therapy with an Elekta Synergy linear accelerator, Phillips CT simulator, providing IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SBRT, SRT, and brachytherapy services. Successful candidates will have interest and strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care and service.

 Responsibilities of the radiation oncologist include evaluation and treatment of patients, participation in tumor boards as well as community events to build and maintain the site of practice. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to clinical program growth as well as educational, scientific and outreach efforts relating to these programs.

The Department of Radiation Oncology treats over 2,800 patients annually from a multi-state region covering over 25% of the U.S. geographic area. The University of Washington has the only Radiation Oncology department in North America that has clinical particle beam delivery systems for both proton and neutron therapy. 

Our clinical approach is collaborative with numerous multidisciplinary clinics and tumor boards. We enjoy strong collaborations with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and several imaging research laboratories. 

The Department has 24 physicians, 8 advanced practice providers, 22 physics and 2 research faculty, who engage in active multi-disciplinary clinical and basic research.  Educational opportunities in our residency programs, fellowship programs and post-doctoral fellowships abound. A strong interest and commitment in research and education is expected, as well as strong collaboration with the multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications for University of Washington faculty jobs

The successful applicant must have an MD or a DO, or equivalent, and be board certified in Radiation Oncology.  For applicants recently completing residency training, the appointment candidates who are ABR board eligible, provided she/he becomes board certified within two years of taking the position, will be considered.
