The Purpose of the Role

To support the delivery of the new Pick Up and Drop Off (PUDO) product group through leading the operational delivery of PUDO services across the Post Office network. The role has specific responsibility for specifying the requirements from the network needed to deliver a market leading PUDO operation from concept to design and managing their compliance against agreed performance standards.

Post Office Jobs Principal Accountabilities

  • Detail the network requirements, locational and operational, needed to successfully attract and secure new and existing postmasters and commercial partners.
  • Lead the design and delivery of new branch and service capability across the current and emerging Post Office estate, including subsidiaries such as PayZone, including the evaluation and selection of 3rd party logistic partners or suppliers where needed
  • Establish KPIs and reporting structures to enable effective assessment of network performance against contracted customer and business SLAs.
  • Development and agreement of service specifications with key internal stakeholders and commercial partners
  • Management of direct operational costs of network and logistics providers to deliver the product and client gross contribution targets
  • Postmaster lifecycle management from location/coverage planning, capability specifications and training to performance management and branch closure
  • Ensuring Postmaster training & support programmes are complete, accurate and effectively implemented across the network for all PUDO services
  • Define and lead the delivery of leading second-line customer service and postmaster support capabilities to ensure market leading customer experience is consistently achieved
  • Capacity and network loading planning to ensure maximum availability of PUDO locations, including the development of strategic capacity plans across different branch formats and partners
  • Inform the development of the wider network strategy through providing consumer and client insight
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee on-boarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.

Post Office Jobs Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Proven track record of designing and operating complex operational networks at a national level
  • Significant experience at a senior level in parcels, logistics or e-commerce industry
  • Proven experience of managing complex third part relationships and supplier contracts, including inter-business agreements
  • Working knowledge of product and service design and delivery, and/or managing product, service or project delivery risks

  • Strong team leader with demonstrable experience of developing colleagues and leading by example
  • Excellent influencing skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management, up to and including Board level
  • Likes to engage and challenge the norm; able to negotiate with and provide constructive feedback to others to achieve a successful outcome
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills alongside demonstrable numeracy and analytical skills
  • Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines or targets and can adapt to differing demands; prioritising tasks as necessary
  • Can demonstrate confidence, resilience and the ability to be proactive, while also being able to follow instructions and provide support to the PUDO Director.
  • Proven planning and organisational skills; with a strong focus on accuracy and producing high quality work
