- ROLE SUMMARYThe Registered Nurse will render and promote cost effective, safe quality patient care in accordance with hospital standards and policies. The incumbent will further be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or a group of patients, for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs, is a role model in the delivery of evidence based care and will actively participate in Clinical Governance.
KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Maintain professional conduct and standards at all times in accordance with the SANC / Job Standards / Hospital Policies
Promote and maintain good working and inter-personal relationships with Management / patients / staff / visitors / doctors and colleagues
Co-ordinate nursing service activities with other departments
Co-ordinate all working activities to accommodate normal hospital routine
Perform other departmentally related duties and be prepared to rotate to other wards.
Assumes responsibility for maintaining competence in CPR
Keep up to date with Netcare’s evolving policies and procedures
Mentoring and supervision of junior healthcare providers and support staff
Facilitation of learning environment
Keep abreast of current research in their discipline
Manage acuity and skill mix to ensure appropriate level of care
Compliance with documentation policy
Ensure all stock is well controlled and manged; charged and credited appropriately
Adheres to Netcare Resuscitation and Reanimation policy
Adheres to Netcare medical waste management principles and all other waste management principles
Qualifications and Experience
Matric or Grade 12 an equivalent NQF Level 4 Qualification
Must be a Registered Nurse / Midwife, registered with the South African Nursing Council
Trauma Post Basic Qualified – 12 months
Previous experience in the Emergency Unit essential
Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legistation
Private Hospital experience advantageous
Thorough knowledge of general / specialized nursing theory and practice
Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices in the highly specialised field
