Job Description

The Coatings Sales Manager is a leadership position within the Additives Business Unit (BU) North America (NORAM.) This role will develop and implement the North American Coatings Strategy in alignment with Clariant’s global BU strategy. Reporting to the Head of Sales North America, this role will manage the coatings business through optimized resources allocation and sales excellence to achieve annual objectives. The Coatings Sales Manager will lead a team to profitably grow and develop new business in North America whilst securing and expanding a competitive position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement North American business strategy with BU Management and agree on budget figures
  • Align operational targets and activities of the Sales and marketing teams with North American BU Management Committee (MC)
  • Ensure implementation of the business strategy in collaboration with BU / BLs and Service Units
  • Reporting and alignment of NORAM Strategy through quarterly updates NORAM BU MC
  • Regional responsibility for driving sales, Contribution Margin (CoMa) and working capital targets for market segments
  • Manage global and regional key accounts in cooperation with Key Account Managers (KAM) and Technical Key Account Manager (TKAM)
  • Foster customer relationships through direct account responsibility as well as on the ground support for team
  • Create sales business case to prioritize technical and customer projects to gain best ROI
  • Devise and implement strategic sales plan that expands customer base and strong market presence
  • Manage product portfolio based on market demand, with focus of new sales growth
  • Identification and management of regional market needs, growth opportunities and M&A opportunities
  • Determine and manage segment pricing by monitoring costs, competition, supply and demand
  • Ensure growth of operating profit (absolute CoMA), contribution to the global BU results (EBITDA, Cash Flow)
  • Optimize Net Working Capital (Receivables, Inventories)
  • Oversight of Supply Chain and inventory position, influencing improved performance
  • Develop long term FTE Plan to support, Sales,/Marketing, Operations, Production, Laboratory
  • Manage process improvement through Global Business Support (GBS) team extension, KPI development
  • Manage, motivate and develop employees in line with the management principles of the company
  • Establish high performing organization, frequent coaching and performance mgmt. of individual team members
  • Oversight on staffing and development of NORAM Coatings lab, establish KPI and performance metrics for Lab

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Business management, Chemical Engineering , Chemistry or related field

5+ years of sales within coatings industry

Excellent people management capabilities, including mentoring and coaching

Direct experience in North American Coatings and chemical industry preferred
