Who You’ll Work With

The Business Analyst – Bain Advisor Network is embedded into Bain’s global relationship management for our portfolio of expert network providers. The business analyst helps in driving our expert network operations globally, including review of the existing portfolio ( feedback from users, service level reviews, pricing and usage analytics), and ongoing monitoring of vendor performance. Furthermore, as part of improving our strategy, the business analyst assists in progressing our ways of working (technology-enabled tools used, e.g., “Network Aggregation Platform”) and operational processes (e.g., compliance algorithm) for case teams across the world. The position involves collaborating and interacting with different stakeholders, including our private equity consulting group (PEG) and other consulting teams and a number of functional teams (finance, procurement, legal) , as well as the global portfolio of expert network providers .

Expert network providers are Bain’s key source for experts that we use for primary research, mainly in our PEG practice. Our call volume has been growing >20% p.a. over the last 8 years. Bain has made the strategic decision to build a team with global responsibility to manage our ways of working, relationships, processes and service levels with our key expert network providers. The aim is to further develop selected vendors into “strategic partners”, and evolve our external expert/primary research knowledge gathering into a competitive advantage.

What You’ll Do

“Day to day” expert network relationship management

  • Serve as go-to person for internal requests of case teams and other relevant stakeholders with regards to questions pertaining to expert networks
  • Assistance in monitoring of vendor/ partner performance including tracking and analysis of KPIs including quarterly reviews
  • Assistance in managing of global portfolio of expert networks, including coordination with other business functions (legal, procurement) on matters related to expert networks
  • Preparation of regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to review needs/ gaps by case teams/ practice areas
  • Collect and analyze feedback of power users and suggest improvement areas to broader Expert Network Team

Continuous improvement of processes and knowledge sharing

  • Work together with Expert Network Team and other relevant stakeholders to improve processes and guidelines on expert networks
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives with regards to Expert Networks related topics

Technology/ digital strategy for primary research

  • Assist in progressing of conceptualization and implementation of new technologies within Expert Network Team
  • Collect input from various relevant stakeholders with regards to new technologies

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, concentration in business strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years industry experience working at a global, management consulting, professional services, or technology firm, ideally in a business analytics role
  • Experience with data analysis and creation of presentation materials to communicate key insights
  • Ability to interact with senior management level stakeholders; Demonstrated success in working with senior executives and exhibiting sound judgment
  • Works independently, with attention to details and a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and a customer service orientation
  • Collaborative, team oriented working style and ability to work with a diverse range of internal and client team members; highly recommended by former colleagues
  • Desires to push individual boundaries, and an enthusiasm to discover creative solutions
  • Intellectual curiosity and energetic attitude to learn and develop knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

The Senior Manager, Digital Commerce delivers growth on marketplaces like Amazon, optimizing both product listing (PDPs) and media as well as evolving the digital commerce strategy and D2C opportunity. He or she works in a cross-functional team leading a team of (digital) marketing specialists to identify digital commence growth opportunities for the client and developing a clear strategy on how to deliver those results.

The Senior Manager is responsible for leading internal and client teams to successful outcomes with relatively little day-to-day “management” oversight. The Senior Manager is seen as an invaluable member of the client teams, helping move at pace through our “small moves” way of working. In some cases this role guides execution by other agencies or internal client teams, and in some cases by [email protected] The Senior Manager must objectively solve for each situation while earning trust without turf issues – sometimes including CMOs, CFOs and other agency partners.

  • Lead small teams (2-3 people) comprising Bain, [email protected] and client team members
  • Work collaboratively in a cross-functional team with other Bain consultants and clients, often on-site with the client, to develop an acceleration strategy and agile “small moves” tests to improve digital commerce sales volume and ROAS
  • Drive analysis and recommendations that guide marketing planning, brand strategy through expertise in digital channels / tactics, capabilities (technology and organizational), communications mix and messaging, and decisions on what to scale based on learning and potential relative value
  • Consult clients on the opportunities of digital commerce both on marketplaces as well as Direct to Consumer
  • Run a thorough diagnosis of a client’s digital commerce presence and marketing to identify sizable opportunities for effectiveness improvement
  • Collaborate with client internal teams, the client’s agencies and partners to identify growth opportunities in PDPs and media
  • Communicate insights and opportunities in simple and clear comms that are appropriately tailored to their audience, both in written and oral presentations
  • The Senior manager should have broader digital performance experience and also be able to lead digital media performance improvement projects across all digital channels.
  • Build trust with clients, Bain partners and teams as the digital commerce and marketing expert that solves tough business problems based on deep in-platform experience
  • QA data and analysis with actionable insights as it relates to business goals for reporting – the person who makes sure everyone knows what great, good and poor looks like and has a plan to improve or pivot as needed

Bain & Company Jobs About You

  • 6-8+ years’ experience in digital performance marketing, biddable media and eCommerce
  • Proven track record of analysing biddable media campaigns, identify optimization potential and deliver ROI improvement
  • Communication, especially in packaging content into effective client presentations and being the person leading the room in meetings, articulating clear action items and providing direction
  • A proven track-record developing and contributing to successful, innovative and impactful marketing efforts is essential. Communications strategy, goals and testing roadmaps across projects, packaged and structured to deliver clear outcomes against client business priorities
  • Partnership oriented – with clients of course, and in working well with the internal integrated team as well as, other agencies
  • At least 2 years Amazon Advertising expertise (how to drive highest ROI) in Search, Sponsored Ads, Amazon DSP
  • Amazon on-site optimization: Vendor Central, Seller Central, listings, Product Landing Page optimization
  • Good overview of other marketplace platforms and Retail media opportunities, like Otto, Zalando, international like Tesco, Carrefour etc.
  • D2C experience would be a benefit, including Shop system selection and setup, Product mix selection, presentation, optimization, user experience optimization/Conversion rate optimization, CRM/E-mail marketing for retention and sales increase, fulfillment & logistics and pricing strategy
  • European language skills preferred
  • Willingness to travel
