As a Graduate Civil Engineering within Anglo American, you will learn how to assist in delivering best practice support. You will have a proactive approach to safety, ensure compliance with all safety systems, and legislation is essential to the role.  The role will also have a strong focus on Civil Engineering. You will facilitate effective communication between all relevant stakeholders and ensure that regular updates are completed in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:
  • Have completed a 4 year Civil engineering degree or currently completing 4th year which must be due to complete the study by January 2022.
  • Design and/or Building background will be advantageous
  • Have no more than two years of work experience.
  • Have excellent academics.
  • Be team players with strong leadership potential.
  • Demonstrate drive, ambition and a passion for challenging work in our operations.
  • Actively participate in campus and community life.

Minimum Requirements…

Qualification and experience:-

  • Formal education:Grade 12 and relevant tertiary qualification (National Diploma, B Tech, BSc in Building or Engineering Sciences.)
    Supplementary qualifications or certifications such as Certified Scheduling Technician (CST), Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) or similar would be highly advantageous and is preferable.
    Qualification in Project Management / Planning.
    Additional requirements:Computer literacy – Advanced skills in Primavera P6, MS Project and ‘MS Office Suite’ mandatory.
    Willing and physically able to fly in light aircraft (16-seater), move around construction sites, qualify for working at heights training and access underground mining development areas.
    Valid EB/Code 8 Drivers License.
    Role-specific knowledge:Minimum of 8 -10 continuous years sound Project Planning experience with evidenced experience in planning and scheduling within multi-disciplined large-scale mining sector projects.
    8 years’ experience in the following:
    Construction / Engineering Project Management environment.
    Construction management experience.
    General management experience.
    Contractor Management.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • You will be responsible for supporting the Project Management teams in the production, implementation, maintenance reporting and communication of accurate and up-to date time and resource plans, schedules, forecasts and management reports.You role will also ensure:Maintenance and further development of integrated schedule plans.
    Verification and further development a fully integrated Project Master Schedule for monitoring and controlling against tasks, milestones and deliverables.
    Monitoring and controlling progress, performance and variances against schedules.
    Transparent reporting of progress.
    Integration with the cost engineer and their cost management plan.
    Provision of variance to plan, root causes and remedial action reports.
    Monitoring the greater project environment in order to identify potential risks to the schedule.
