University of London Jobs Role 

The Senior Solicitor will be responsible for providing high quality, considered and pragmatic legal advice to the University of London, its Board of Trustees and committees, and the senior management and staff of the University in respect of its activities.

Working with staff at all levels across the University, the Senior Solicitor holder will manage their own challenging and varied caseload of legal matters with minimal supervision. The Senior Solicitor will deal with all aspects of work undertaken by the Legal Services Department and will have specific responsibility for drafting, negotiating and advising on a full range of contracts and for leading on all legal aspects of commercial matters.

The successful candidate will have sound understanding of and commitment to team working principles and practice with up to date knowledge of Commercial Law and Employment Law.

This is a permanent full time role.

Senate House Library is the central library for the University of London, and the home library for the School of Advanced Study. We offer access and research support to collections covering Arts, Humanities and Social Science and are home to a number of unique and distinctive Special Collections in the heart of London’s student and research community.

The Role: The University of London Jobs

As a Library Customer Services Assistant, you will be responsible for greeting, directing visitors and providing support for membership activities. You will be responsible for issuing, return and renewal of materials, processing library notices and requests for materials held in closed onsite and offsite stores.

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for enquires from library members including face-to-face by telephone and email and will be required to refer more complex enquires to second line staff when appropriate. You will additionally support library members with using the full range of services including the online discovery system and Library website. You will also provide Invigilation Services in our Special Collection Reading Room. In addition, you will also be required to sustain familiarity and expertise in the Library’s collection, catalogue and equipment.

To succeed in the role you will need to have had previous experience of working in a customer facing role, hold excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate experience of working in a busy customer facing role. Additionally you would have used various Library management and resource discovery systems.

This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months. Please note these are part time positions based on 20 hours per week, to be worked Monday to Saturday inclusive, in accordance with the prevailing rotas of attendance.
